I needed to rekey an old Corbin cylinder for the front door. Several mobile locksmiths quote prices of $150 - $220 to rekey the lock. After calling around, I learned the going rate to bring my key to a store front locksmith was about $50-$60. I decided to go to Area Safe & Lock for no special reason. It was my gut instinct. I'm so glad I went! John suggested that I replace the lock for $25 instead of rekeying it for twice the price. He also told me how to do it and to be careful the screw doesn't fall into the larger lock component.
I went back later to get a skeleton key for an old mortise lock, buy a box to store all of my keys (I manage several properties) and try to figure out how to secure the gate handle back in place. He had the key I needed, sold me their last key storage box at a discount since it was the floor model, and gave me a spare alan wrench he had on hand that I needed to secure the gate handle.
Now that is amazing customer service! John's prices were more than fair, he saved me a lot of money, and he taught me some tools of the trade. Two thumbs up!
